Brian Cox and the World's Biggest Vacuum

I love how strange obvious things often are, and a recent find that I’ve been coming back to is this video of Brian Cox testing Galileo’s hypothesis, sometimes referred to as the “Equivalence Principle”, that all objects are accelerated by gravity at the same rate. Which is to say, everything falls at the same speed, no matter how much they weight. I think we all learned about this in 7th grade or something, but scientists were unsure of it as recently as 2004 (or maybe sooner, my search certainly wasn’t comprehensive) which made watching it happen on video feel even more surreal. My vote is that this is certainly worth 5 minutes or so of your day today, and it’s a great reminder of what a weird, wonderful place this can sometimes be.
