Geranium Update
All not quiet on the southwestern front
Well, good news has finally arrived in the form of a finished Geranium manuscript. There were a lot of moments along the way when I felt like it was falling apart or turning into a Frankenstein’s monster of 3 different books, but as it turns out I just needed a few more long afternoons of editing and spending a bit more time tinkering with its emotional architecture. My friend who is editing it is backed up until late summer, but they’ll have the manuscript starting later today and I’m hoping their schedule clears so they can get to it sooner.
In the meantime, there are two other items of note:
Maybe a month ago I started working on the physical book concept for Geranium and I’ll be working with one of my favorite musicians/best friends on it which I’m insanely excited about. Ramona was a small chapbook which I was happy with in some ways but I think was essentially impossible to read in real life because of some misunderstandings on my end with the manufacturer. Geranium is going to be a much bigger project in every way, and we’re making something that occupies a much more specific space in your home’s collection.
I want to re-release Ramona physically in conjunction with Geranium’s release, and do it in a better physical format that’s more durable and easier to use. I also want to make it available in a digital format for you all, and I’ve been looking through the original design files to see what (if anything) I need to do there. I had the idea of using the digital version as the first reward for Radio Bebop’s referral program and might try that out and see how it goes.
Thank you (as always) for reading and I can’t wait for you all have a copy of Geranium in your hands later this year. It’s been a special project to work on and I’m incredibly relieved to have at least the vast majority of the writing work for it done. I know after editing there will likely be another chunk but as far as I’m concerned that’s already been priced into the initial stress of making it in the first place. Hope you have a wonderful Thursday and more soon.
