These Days Are Just Packed #1

I’m on vacation for a week starting today, and while I’m gone I thought it’d be best to keep up with posts but stick with something brief since most of my free non-relaxing brain time the past week or so was spent either finishing Geranium or working on my no-code bootcamp app. Each morning in the wee hours I’ll be shining a headlamp on a gizmo, gadget, or othersuch that I’m enjoying right now and we’ll get back to our regular programming on 5/21 or 5/22. Consider each of these me raising my coconut with a straw in it to you from my goofy folding chair in the sand.

I found Peggy this week via Terrence McKenna’s daughter Klea McKenna’s Instagram. Or rather, I got served an ad for it and the only person I follow who follows them is Klea, which made me click through to the website. That’s a convoluted connection point for sure, but Instagram really do be like that.

The gist of the platform is giving artists both a much more dynamic and robust place to sell their work, and the non-financially elite a way to buy artwork from emerging artists while also getting access to resell options should they ever need or want it. This is sick to me for a couple reasons. The first is that not only can artists sell their art directly, but it seems they earn royalties on all lifetime sales of that piece through a patent-pending authentication platform developed by Peggy. Given that the investment team has deep chops when it comes to building platforms like Airbnb, and Peggy’s VP of Art came over from Christy’s Auction House, I’m excited to see if this can help create more financial sustainability for up and coming artists and vastly improve access to the particular benefits that art collection provides as an asset class.
